Most vehicles have a roof rail mounted over the entire length of the vehicle, which makes it easy to mount a roof crossbar. This is of course different for trucks with a loading area. There, the roof tent has to be mounted on the loading area, as there is usually not enough space in the driver’s cab for a large roof rack tent.
A rack can easily be mounted on most trucks. This is not only particularly practical and important for the installation of a roof top tent, you can also use a truck bed rack to safely transport other loads that otherwise cannot be transported.
There are many different mounts for the trucks. Most of the brackets are universal brackets that are screwed to the truck bed and thus ensure a secure hold.

How are the truck bed racks attached to the vehicle?
There are two ways of attaching a truck bed rack to the vehicle.
- If you buy a vehicle-specific truck bed rack, this is usually attached to the vehicle at the appropriate points, or screwed. When screwing on the vehicle, make sure that all screws are tightened with the correct torque. You can find the information on this in the attached installation instructions. It is also highly recommended that you also use special screw locking varnish to prevent the screws from loosening. The screws can loosen quickly on their own, due to the vibrations that occur during a journey, the screws can otherwise loosen or fall off completely. So always pay attention to the safety!
It is also highly recommended that at least two people are involved in the installation of a truck bed rack, as the rack is heavy and wide. The second one can then check all screws and connections again afterwards.
- The second option for attaching a truck bed rack is if you still have to drill holes in the body yourself. This is usually the case when you buy a universal truck bed rack and have to adapt it to your truck.
But always pay attention to the correct fastening with the correct screws. Use a screw locking varnish here to prevent the screws from loosening by themselves!
Even if you buy a universal truck bed rack, detailed installation instructions will always be included. Please complete all the steps exactly as described in the installation instructions.
If you don’t feel comfortable installing it yourself, always contact someone who knows about vehicles or bring your truck to a workshop for the installation. Installation in a specialist workshop costs between $ 150 and $ 250.

What can you use a truck bed rack for?
