You have the option of mounting a rooftop tent on the vehicle roof of the Acura TLX. A rooftop tent has many advantages over a traditional ground-based tent. With a rooftop tent, you also have many advantages over a large camping trailer or an RV.

Since you have mounted the tent on the roof, you are very flexible and can also reach places that you would otherwise never be able to reach with a heavy camping trailer or RV/motorhome. Wherever your vehicle goes, you can also stay overnight, even off the beaten track.

Due to the elevated position on the vehicle roof, you are safe from small and large animals, for example. You are also safe from water or rain that forms on the ground. A rooftop tent is also warmer than a ground tent because it does not stand directly on the cold floor and because it has thicker walls.

All you need to mount a rooftop tent on your Acura TLX are the appropriate roof rails and roof crossbars. The roof rails are bolted directly to the roof. In addition, the Acura TLX has factory threads for mounting the roof rails. The roof crossbars are then attached to the roof rails and form a stable base for assembling the rooftop tent. Some rooftop tents are also attached directly to the roof rails, this varies depending on the rooftop tent model. Otherwise, the rooftop tent is attached to four mounting spots on the crossbars.

The weight of the roof tent and the people staying in the roof tent is transferred to the vehicle body via the roof rails. So neither the roof nor the body of the Acura TLX is damaged.

The Acura TLX offers enough space to mount a large four-person rooftop tent on the vehicle roof. For example, you can mount a hard-shell or a soft-shell rooftop tent on the vehicle roof.

You must also note that installing a rooftop tent on the vehicle roof increases fuel consumption and thus reduces the maximum range. It is also possible that driving behavior deteriorates because the vehicle’s center of gravity is shifted further upwards. So you should always drive very carefully with a rooftop tent and also think about the increased fuel consumption.
