The Infiniti QX60 is a modern SUV that offers a lot of interior space for your whole family or friends. If you love camping, you don’t need a large camping trailer or RV to have a great weekend camping. With the Infiniti QX60, you have the option of mounting a rooftop tent on the vehicle roof.

A rooftop tent on the vehicle roof offers many advantages over a camping trailer or an RV. If you put a rooftop tent on the roof of the Infiniti QX60, you are very mobile and can also go camping spontaneously. If you own a rooftop tent, you don’t need as much preparation as with a camping trailer or RV.

A rooftop tent also offers many advantages over a ground-based tent. Due to the elevated position on the vehicle roof, you are safe from small and large animals, and the nightly cold that comes out of the ground, and you are also safe from water or rain that forms on the ground.

A rooftop tent is also extremely quick to set up and take down, so you can change campgrounds very quickly and easily. Another advantage is that you can stay overnight wherever your vehicle goes. So you can also discover campgrounds that are off the beaten path.

All you need to mount a rooftop tent on the roof of the Infiniti QX60 are roof rails and roof crossbars. Some models and years of construction of the Infiniti QX60 already have roof rails, then of course you don’t have to retrofit them and can use the factory roof rails. The roof rails are mounted and screwed directly to the vehicle roof, and the Infiniti QX60 has factory threads for assembly. The crossbars are attached to the roof rails and thus provide a stable base for installing the rooftop tent. (Some rooftop tents are also attached directly to the roof rails, then of course you don’t need crossbars. This always depends on the respective rooftop tent model.)

The additional roof load of the rooftop tent and the people staying in the rooftop tent is transferred to the vehicle body via the roof rails. This means that neither the roof nor the body of the vehicle is damaged.

The Infiniti QX60 offers enough space and stability to mount a large six-person rooftop tent on the vehicle roof. So you can take your entire family or friends with you on the camping trip.

Further down on this page, you will find an overview of the most popular rooftop tents for the Infiniti QX60.

The registered permissible roof load of the Infiniti QX60 is relatively low, but this always refers to the vehicle in motion. However, as soon as the vehicle is standing still, for example on the campground, the permitted roof load of the QX60 increases many times over. So you can set up a large rooftop tent without any problems.

The Infiniti QX60 also offers the option of mounting a rooftop tent, which has an awning (annex). So you have a practical and wind and rain-protected room that you can use individually.

However, you must note that installing a rooftop tent increases fuel consumption and thus reduces the maximum range of the vehicle. It is also possible that the driving characteristics deteriorate because the vehicle’s center of gravity is shifted further upwards. So you should always drive very carefully and think about the increased fuel consumption.

Is it difficult to install a roof rack tent?

No! On the contrary, with most models you only have to screw the underside of the tent floor to the roof rack of your vehicle. The best way to do this is with two people, as the roof rack tent is relatively heavy. After you have tightened all the screws properly, you can put full load on the tent.

Is it difficult to clean the tent?

No, you can easily clean the outside of the tent with water and a little detergent. The inside of the tent is also best cleaned with soap and water. Make sure that the inside of the tent is completely dry before you fold it up and store it. Otherwise it could happen that mold could form in the tent due to the high humidity.

How many people can sleep on the roof of the car in the tent?

It all depends on the size of the tent. You can also sleep with three people in a two-person tent. The weight does not play such a big role here, as the tent is not supported on the roof of the car, but on the supporting pillars (A-pillar & C-pillar) of the car or truck. This means that the weight is always evenly distributed over the entire vehicle.

I sold my RV and bought a jeep with a roof rack tent mounted on it. That was the best decision i ever made. I can pitch my tent anywhere in the desert with my jeep and spend the night there. I would never have come to these places with my RV.

My friend and I bought a roof tent for our car and now drive it almost every weekend into the wilderness and pitch our tent where it suits us. We're just excited about our new roof rack tent and never want to go camping without a roof tent again.
