The Nissan Leaf is not only a great city car, but the Leaf is also a perfect companion for the next camping weekend. You have the option of installing a rooftop tent for a maximum of four people on the roof of the Nissan Leaf and spending a great camping weekend or even an entire camping holiday with your whole family.
The big advantage of a rooftop tent compared to a camping trailer or RV is that you are much more flexible with a rooftop tent. You can get to many places you wouldn’t be able to get to with a trailer or an RV.

The weight of the roof tent and the people is then transferred to the entire vehicle body via the roof rails of the Nissan Leaf. This way the vehicle will not be damaged.
The registered permissible roof load of the Nissan Leaf is very low, but this always refers to the moving vehicle. As soon as the vehicle is stationary, the permissible roof load increases many times over. So you can easily stay with up to four people in the rooftop tent on the roof of the Nissan Leaf.
Please note, however, that fuel consumption increases when the rooftop tent is installed. The rooftop tent negatively affects the aerodynamics of the Nissan Leaf. The driving behavior also deteriorates as the vehicle’s center of gravity shifts further upwards.
So always be very careful when driving the rooftop tent and consider the higher fuel consumption and the shorter possible distance.
