The registered permissible roof load of the BMW 6 Series is relatively low, but this always refers to the driving condition (this is important if you are installing a roof box, for example). However, when the BMW 6 Series is standing still, the permissible roof load increases many times over. Four adults can stay or sleep on the roof of the BMW 6 Series in the rooftop tent without any problems. The additional weight is optimally distributed over the entire vehicle body via the roof rails. The roof or the vehicle will not be damaged by the rooftop tent.

The handling will also deteriorate due to the additional weight on the roof. You should therefore only assemble the rooftop tent when you really need it and otherwise store it safely in the garage.
