A rooftop tent is connected to the crossbars at four mounting spots. In this way, the roof tent is securely and stably connected to the vehicle. The weight of the rooftop tent and the people in the tent is safely and evenly transferred to the vehicle body via the roof rails. In this way, the X3 will not be damaged even if there are many people in the rooftop tent.
The registered permissible roof load of the BMW X3 is relatively low, but this only applies to the vehicle in motion. This is important if you are installing a roof box, for example. But as soon as the vehicle is stationary, the possible roof load increases many times over!
The BMW X3 is built very stable. This makes it possible to mount a very large six-person rooftop tent on the roof of the BMW X3. Of course, you can also assemble smaller roof tents, you can decide this yourself.
It is also possible to mount a rooftop tent on the BMW X3 which has an awning. So you then have another safe and wind-protected area.
Please note, however, that installing a rooftop tent increases fuel consumption and reduces the maximum range. The driving behavior also deteriorates because the vehicle’s center of gravity shifts further upwards. So you should only mount the rooftop tent on the X3 when you really need it.
